Fracture healing is a complex and slow dynamic process, and macrophages are one of the first cells to arrive at the fracture site. It has long been thought that macrophages contribute to the initial inflammation and debridement at the site of injury, and the key role of macrophages in regulating bone regeneration during normal bone homeostasis and fracture healing is also receiving increasing attention. In recent years, studies have found that the cGAS-STING pathway is an important DNA sensing mechanism in innate immunity and virus defense, and more and more evidence shows that the cGAS-STING pathway is closely related to macrophages, so the cGAS-STING pathway may function in fracture healing by regulating the polarization type of macrophages. Therefore, understanding the mechanism of cGAS-STING pathway involved in the regulation of macrophages in the process of fracture repair, which will provide new ideas and strategies for promoting fracture healing. |
