Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of sports games combined with music therapy in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).Methods A total of 100 children with ASD admitted to Wuhan Children's Hospital from September 2021 to January2023 were collected as the study subjects and randomly grouped into a music group (n=50) and a study group (n=50). The music groupimplemented music therapy, while the study group conducted sports games interventions on the basis of the music group. The condition[using the Autism Treatment Evaluation Checklist (ATEC)], function and behavior [using the Psycho-Educational Profile-3 (PEP-3)] were compared between the two groups. Results After 3 months of intervention, both groups showed lower ATEC scores in language, perception, social, and behavioral domains compared to pre-intervention levels (P<0.05), and the study group were significantly lower than the music group [(12.42±2.98) score vs. (15.34±3.30) score, (15.56±3.34) score vs. (19.20±4.26) score, (17.32±3.82) score vs. (20.04±4.46) score, (30.10±5.34) score vs. (34.72±6.48) score, P<0.05]. Both groups in PEP-3 showed higher scores in functional devel-opment and behavioral performance than pre-intervention levels (P<0.05), and the study group were significantly higher than the music group [(108.58±11.34) score vs. (97.42±12.94) score, (36.56±4.72) score vs. (32.78±5.56) score, P<0.05]. Conclusion Intervention with sports games and music therapy for children with ASD can effectively improve their condition and functional status.
