Preeclampsia (PE) is a unique complication of pregnancy, characterized by new-onset hypertension and proteinuria after 20weeks of gestation, and manifested by systemic small vessel spasm. The pathogenic mechanism of PE is characterized by multi-factors, multi-mechanisms and multi-pathways, so it has not been completely clarified so far. Recent studies have found that the gut microbiotaundergoes significant changes during pregnancy and plays an important role in the development of PE, and its metabolites also partici-pate in the development of PE as an important link between the microbiota and the host. By exploring the possible mechanisms bywhich the gut microbiota influences the development of PE, it can provide a theoretical basis for finding new strategies to prevent andcontrol PE.
