| Objective To improve the vaccination rate of two types of vaccines in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) pa-tients through health education. Methods This study is a prospective research. The research subjects were prospectively selected 96COPD patients treated at the First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University between September 2023 and February 2024. Health educa-tion was carried out and follow-up was conducted. Through self-control, the awareness of COPD, influenza vaccine, and PPSV23, aswell as the vaccination status of the patients before and after the intervention were compared. Results After the implementation of theintervention, significant changes occurred in multiple dimensions among the research subjects. The influenza vaccine vaccination rateincreased from 15.63% before the intervention to 33.37% (P<0.05); the PPSV23 vaccination rate rose from 5.21% to 22.92% (P<0.05).In terms of cognition, 52.08% of the research subjects agreed that COPD patients were more prone to pneumonia and influenza, whichwas significantly higher than 36.46% before the intervention (P<0.05); 36.46% of the research subjects realized that pneumonia couldexacerbate the condition of COPD, higher than 20.83% before the intervention (P<0.05); in addition, 57.29% of the research subjectsrecognized the necessity of vaccination, far exceeding 17.71% before the intervention (P<0.05).Conclusions The awareness, vaccina-tion intention, and vaccination rate of influenza and PPSV23 vaccines among the COPD population are all low. Targeted health educa-tion can improve the knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) level of preventive vaccination among the COPD population and furtherincrease the vaccination rate. |
